MENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST

(Providing services to adults with Deafness and Mental Illness)

The Mental Health Specialist is responsible for providing Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR)services to individuals with Mental Illness.The Mental Health Specialist will work as part of a team providing groups and activities which assist individuals in maximizing self-sufficiency, maintaining mental stability, enhancing communication skills , increasing empowerment, maintaining independence, fostering social relationships, and instilling hope for recovery.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BA or BS Degree in Social Services or a related field.  Must have a passing score on the Sign Communication Proficiency Interview.

Must have 6 months experience working with people whose only diagnosis is Mental Illness and completing Medicaid Rehabilitation Option(MRO) associated paperwork. Must have the physical capacity to assist in behavior management, help transfer and physically assist individuals as needs dictate and to lift and transfer program materials.

JOB OBJECTIVE: 

Responsible for the development and implementation of a member driven Clubhouse to assist in the transition of members to the community.  Facilitate and/or lead activities and groups, make needed referrals, and coordinate services for members.
