Community Transition Specialist

Work that makes a difference in the lives of others – sound interesting? Anixter Center, a nationally recognized social service organization, is looking for a special person to work as a Community Transition Specialist in our Adult Community Transition program.

Qualifications: B.A./ B.S. in Social Service or related field and at least 1 year paid experience, field work or internship working with people with who have developmental challenges. Must have the physical capacity to assist in behavior management, help transfer and physically assist individuals as need dictates. Valid driver’s license and acceptance as an agency approved driver are required. Must pass criminal background check to transport program participants.

Based in Highland Park, IL, you’ll help design and implement a flexible community based program to maximize the community integration of each person with a disability. Additionally, you’ll help creat a positive and enjoyable learning experience in the community promoting social, recreational and vocational opportunities in concert with the expressed desires of the people receiving services.
